In Eastern medicine and TCM blood is more than a simple red fluid, it is a vital substance and fundamental to Women’s Health.

Nourishment of the Blood is more than a carrier fluid. It is a vital, yin-natured essence that physically nourishes the organs, tissues, and skin, while also anchoring the Mind/Shen and supporting mental-emotional well-being. Up until now the role of blood has not been recognized nor taught in supporting women’s wellness, and the misunderstanding of the Liver’s capacity for volume and quality of blood in generating true health neglected.

We will explore the foundational pillar of our vitality, the anchor for our Spirit (Shen), and the deep reservoir of moisture that keeps our bodies from running dry.

When our Blood is abundant, our hair is lustrous, our skin is radiant, our muscles are strong, and our minds are calm. However, in our modern world, it is incredibly easy to run on empty, and many of us are and depleted. Stress, overwork, skipping meals, and the demands of modern life can deplete this vital reserve, leading to silent symptoms like chronic fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, irregular menstruation and disrupted sleep.

Over the course of this program, we will explore the TCM perspective of Blood - how it is generated by our Spleen and Stomach, stored by the Liver and governed by the Heart. You will discover how to replenish your vital reserves using dietary therapy, traditional herbal wisdom, and lifestyle adjustments tailored to your unique constitution.
Together, we will move away from the culture of 'pushing through' and learn the art of true nourishment - restoring your body's deep reserves so you can restore from the inside.

Long before our reductionist view of food & the body, a world of isolated ingredients, vitamins & minerals, and separation from the energetics of food, humans understood a holistic nature-based approach to nutrition.

The foundations of ancient traditions of food and medicine were an integral part of traditional food culture. The components of eating for health, cooking methods and food preparation with local foods, herbs and plants were key. Five Element Theory emerged from the foundations of Chinese medicine as a way of understanding change. Change through the seasons, change in our body’s functioning.

In this course we bring together experts to teach foundations and the application of 5 Element Nutrition based on ancient teachings into modern life.

Our body can self regulate & knows how to heal.

5 Element Nutrition is nutritional wisdom aligned with mother nature, natural law, cycles and energy. It is not a prescription for what to eat, more an encouragement to learn, feel, intuit and resonate with where you are in terms of your health, energy levels and stage in life. There is no need to feel stressed or obsessed with rules, diets, labels or boxes, 5 Element nutrition is about energy and giving your body, mind & spirit what it needs to thrive.

It offers information, tools & principles that can be applied to all food cultures and kitchens around the world, for life.

Wendy Wen, The Herborium
Wendy is the founder of The Herborium, a modern wellness brand reintroducing the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine through practical, everyday rituals. Raised in a family of both Eastern and Western healthcare practitioners, she developed an appreciation for the strengths of each system and the value of integrating them.

Originally trained as a physiotherapist, Wendy shifted her focus from clinical practice to helping women build lifelong health through prevention. After becoming a mother herself, she saw firsthand how much traditional postpartum wisdom had been lost in modern healthcare, inspiring a special focus on supporting women through the fourth trimester with practical, evidence-informed approaches based on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. Her work is centred on Yang Sheng, the philosophy of nourishing life, and translating centuries of Traditional Chinese Medicine into practical strategies women can confidently apply across every stage of life.
